Dr Michael Riese, BEng, PhD

Bio

Dr Michael Riese is the managing director of Nordkraft Pty Ltd, located in the southern suburbs of metropolitan Adelaide in South Australia.

Michael holds a PhD in experimental fluid dynamics from the University of Adelaide (now Adelaide University) and a bachelor degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Wales, Cardiff (now Cardiff University).

As a specialist in 2-phase heat transfer and vapour compression systems, he is an active member of AIRAH ,a non-executive director for the institution and represents AIRAH and Australia on a number of committees within IIAR.

His immediate past roles were those of Manager for Defence Business and R&D as well as contracts division manager for industrial refrigeration specialistĀ  Cold Logic Pty Ltd in South Australia.

Previously he held the positions business development manager and principal engineer at J & H Williams Holdings P/LĀ  and manager for engineering services within the School of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Adelaide. His main duties included operations managementĀ  of the mechanical engineering workshop, design and drawing reviews, lecturing at undergraduate and postgraduate level covering topics such as operations management, product development, quality management and design for manufacture. Additionally, Michael was the construction and operations manager of the new Adelaide Wind Tunnel.

Since leaving school in 1995, Michael has worked as an engineering technician, researcher, consultant engineer and lecturer in various institutions and companies in Australia and internationally.

Dr Riese is happily married to Kylie and and together they have one daughter. He spends his spare time with wood working, rugby, hiking, photography, reading and cinema.
